Attorney General Discloses Inquiry into President's Opponents and Jeffrey Epstein Ties

On Friday, Pam Bondi appointed Jay Clayton to oversee an inquiry into opponents of Donald Trump and their links with Jeffrey Epstein. This decision came just after Trump ordered her to initiate the probe.

In a statement, Bondi commended Jay Clayton as “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country”. She stated, “As with all matters, the department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people.”

This development appears to contradict a recent memorandum from justice department officials which stated that documents related to Epstein lacked grounds for further inquiries. As per the document, investigators “lacked sufficient evidence to pursue cases against other parties.”

Trump Demands Scrutiny of Democrats in Epstein Matter

The announcement coincides with increasing pressure from the president on lawmakers to block the public disclosure of files concerning Epstein ahead of an upcoming House vote in the coming days. Many Republicans are expected to support the disclosure.

Recently released emails from Epstein have brought attention to the president’s past involvement with the convicted criminal, revealing details that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.

On Friday, the President announced he would direct the Department of Justice to investigate Epstein’s ties with Democrats, including prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Interestingly, he also described the “Epstein hoax” as a “scam”.
