The Prince of Wales Will Participate in COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil

Prince William plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in Brazil during November, according to the royal household.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a gathering preceding the climate summit, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The King and Prince were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an rare public appearance together at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be hosted in Rio preceding the UN meeting.

Official representatives have characterized the Prince's participation at the next COP as assuming an crucial position in "global climate discussions".

Recent Engagements

The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were greeted participants featuring conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.

This engagement included speaking alongside President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The UN meeting will dovetail with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the day before he participates in the climate conference on 6 November.

Last week the prince referred to the award contenders as "heroes of our time".

Royal Climate Legacy

King Charles has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for COP28, including the statement: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"I have spent a significant amount of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats challenging our world over planetary heating, environmental shifts and ecological decline," the sovereign addressed participants.
